On the first day of the Frankfurt Book Fair, Legend Press is delighted to announce the acquisition of two new titles for 2018; Tale of A Tooth by Allie Rogers and Laurinda by Alice Pung.
Tale of a Tooth is the second novel by Allie Rogers, whose debut Little Gold was published by Legend Press in May of this year. It’s told in the voice of four-year-old Danny, whose life is dinosaurs, the library and his Meemaw. Her struggles to pay bills, wrestle with benefits and even keep their flat warm seem perfectly normal to him. But then Meemaw meets someone special and Danny’s world changes dramatically.
Laurinda by Alice Pung will be making its UK debut in May 2018. The book has already been a tremendous success in its native Australia and the US, and Legend Press is delighted to be bringing this perceptive, fresh and funny book to the UK market.
Lucy Lam wins a scholarship to an exclusive girls’ school, delighting her parents and causing envy amongst her friends. But there she encounters The Cabinet, a trio of girls who rule the roost as far as the other girls – and the teachers – are concerned. Can she survive unscathed, and more importantly, with her integrity intact?
Lauren Parsons, Commissioning Editor of Legend Press, said “Both of these novels are entirely original, compulsively readable and undoubtedly engaging. They each offer something different. Allie’s novel is powerful in its subtlety while Alice’s is relatable and yet original. We’re hugely excited to be publishing them both, and continuing to provide readers with books to be read and loved”.
