The Ramingo’s Porch – “Home is a Subjective Noun” a poem By James Dennis Casey IV

Home is a Subjective Noun

wearing remains
of wasted days
losing myself
to the heart
of hearts
in bad
company

messy minds
held in a dream
wandering
down a lost highway
somewhere
in Mississippi

an imitation sky
2000 miles
from home

indigo sunset
on fire
in the rain
sleeping
on the ground

a moonbeam backdrop
howling at the wind
falling star
flyover salute

home
is where
a hat is hung

but home
can feel
like a noose
sometimes

and not all
that wander
are lost
