Alyssa Trivett

Alyssa Trivett comes from Illinois, USA

How long have you been writing? Over ten years.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment as a writer? My greatest accomplishment was having 15 poems published in an anthology.

What projects of yours have been recently published? I have about 6 or 7 upcoming poem publications, but I will have a few poems in a micro-anthology, to be released next year.

What are you currently working on and what inspired this work? My writing is a constant. I don’t have one specific project, but I will be working with a poetry editor for the first time. There was no main reason for the inspiration, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

Where can we find your work?; I haven’t set up a website yet.

How do you react to rejections? I dust myself off, and move on. I also try to take rejected poems and submit them to other entities…I have had some success with that approach.

How do you react when one of your submissions is accepted for publication? I always feel honored, that part always makes my day.

What is your best piece of advice on how to stay sane as a writer? Read. Look at art. Take a walk. Find inspiration anywhere and everywhere.

What is your favorite book? My current favorite book is ‘Hourglass Museum’ by Kelli Russell Agodon. It’s a wonderful collection of poetry.

What makes you laugh? Sarcasm, and autocorrect. Pets. Friends. Also, when I forget to put water in the coffeemaker and it howls. That happens every once in a while.

What makes you cry? The events in which I have lived through this last year. I lost a family member after their eleven month battle with cancer.

What is your preferred drink while you write? Coffee, and once in a great while, wine.

Shakespeare or Bukowski? Bukowski
