Brenton Booth is 39 years old and comes from Sydney, Ausralia.
How long have you been writing? Nearly twenty years.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment as a writer? Writing through 10 years of rejections.
What projects of yours have been recently published? A new chapbook DROWNED AS THE FISH by Epic Rites Press.
What are you currently working on and what inspired this work? I write new poetry most days. I also have a story about a fighter I am planning out in my head at the moment.
Where can we find your work? On my website. And all my published books through Epic Rites Press.
How do you react to rejections? I feel the editor was wrong.
How do you react when one of your submissions is accepted for publication? I feel good.
What is your best piece of advice on how to stay sane as a writer? Get a full time job that has nothing to do with writing.
What is your favorite book? Siddhartha, Candida, Tropic of Capricorn, The Seagull, Hunger, and The Life of a Useless Man are all up there.
Who is your favorite author? Chekhov.
If you could have dinner with one fictional character, who would it be and why? Probably Nina from Chekhov’s “The Seagull”.
What makes you laugh? Bukowski, Woody Allen, Nietzsche.
What makes you cry? Most things.
What is your preferred drink while you write? I rarely drink and write. I drink for escape, not inspiration. Though if I did, it would be whiskey.
What is your favorite food? Don’t have one.
Shakespeare or Bukowski? Shakespeare was a great genius. Bukowski was a great artist. They are both great in their own way and I see choosing one over the other as a mistake.
