How long have you been writing? Since I was a teenager.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment as a writer? Winning the Thomas Wilhelmus Award for fiction because the judge was Robert Olen Butler.

What projects of yours have been recently published? I have my first full length poetry collection coming out from Kelsay Books.

What are you currently working on and what inspired this work? I have been writing a lot of flash fiction. I’ve been inspired by reading so many great stories on the internet.

How do you react to rejections? It’s never easy but it is part of the process.

How do you react when one of your submissions is accepted for publication? I’m really excited.

What is your best piece of advice on how to stay sane as a writer? Keep going. Just keep going.

What is your favorite book? The Fixer by Bernard Malamud.

Who is your favorite author? Bernard Malamud.

If you could have dinner with one fictional character, who would it be and why? Carmen. I like her style

What makes you laugh? Seinfeld.

What makes you cry? Sad movies.

What is your preferred drink while you write? Water.

What is your favorite food? Pizza.

Shakespeare or Bukowski? Shakespeare.
