John Patrick Robbins comes from Knotts Island, North Carolina
How long have you been writing? I have been writing it seems most my life. But had my first poem published in 2005.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment as a writer? Just getting by all these years and not giving up is my greatest accomplishment.
What projects of yours have been recently published? I had poems published with Inbetween Hangovers and Horror Sleaze Trash.
What are you currently working on and what inspired this work? I am currently working on what will hopefully be my first book of poetry. My work is always inspired by the stories I hear around me everyday honestly.

How do you react to rejections? Rejections are just part of the game every writer has gotten them so except it and keep moving.
How do you react when one of your submissions is accepted for publication? When a work is accepted its always a rush to a certain degree it definetly never gets old.
What is your best piece of advice on how to stay sane as a writer? I think any writer who is sane is in the wrong line of work. Sanity and art do not mix all the best art comes from craziness within us all.
What is your favorite book? My favorite book is An Unfortunate Woman by Richard Brautigan. This book helped guide me to the road I am on now.
If you could have dinner with one fictional character, who would it be and why? I’m a drinker and I prefer little dive bars not clubs that said I would have a drink with Tommy. From the flim Trees Lounge written and directed and staring my favorite actor Steve Buscemi. Just my kind of person a fellow drinker that movie has always been a favorite of mine.
What makes you laugh? People make me laugh just sitting back and listening to them.
What makes you cry? Seldom do I cry you never said I had to tell the truth.
What is your preferred drink while you write? My favorite drink will always be Heaven Hill Bourbon and Coke just something about sure its bad for you but aren’t all thing’s that taste good.
What is your favorite food? Favorite food will always be a simple hamburger and side of steak fries maybe not fancy but you asked.
Shakespeare or Bukowski? Bukowski was and always will be the man. His work connected with me and for obvious reasons the man knew how to make that page bleed. And whenever I need a escape he is always my go to writer.
